Tomorrow's the big day

Well, getting ready for the big day tomorrow. Still trying to get my packing done...going to have to consolidate as both my bags right now are overweight. I talked to the missionaries today and they were heading out to San Pedro Sula to pick me up tomorrow. The river is down and crossable since they have not had rain in 2 days and it's not supposed to rain again until saturday.

So...will let you guys know when I get to the hospital. We are going to make the 3 hour drive from San Pedro Sula to La Ceiba on friday and will stay in the city that night. I will do my grocery shopping in the city before going out to the hospital on saturday. I will post as soon as I can after I arrive at the hospital to let you all know I arrived safely. Thank you for your prayers already and in the weeks and months to come. :)

Leaving Friday the 15th

I am leaving this friday the 15th of January. I will be busy this week getting last minute things together to leave in 5 days. I just heard today that the river between the hospital and the city is unpassable at the moment and there is supposed to be a storm moving in sometime this week. There will be one clear day but I am not sure if the missionaries will be able to make it to the airport to pick me up or not. I am hoping to not have to stay in the city for too long before going to the hospital. Who knows how long after I arrive that the river will be passable again. Please pray for safe travels.

Huge Praise!

On June 28, 2009 the small country of Honduras stood up for thier democratic constitution and ousted president Manuel Zelaya who was wanting to change the constitution to stay in power. For the last 5 months, Honduras has struggled to cling to their constitution as much of the world said they were wrong for exciling the president. They were up against most of central america, the United States, and the United Nations. They have had victory in the last few days. The appointed president stepped down early in November, so that elections for a new president could take place November 29, this past Sunday.
God has answered many prayers, and a peaceful election was held Sunday. The winner of the election and new president of Honduras is Porfirio Lobo. I don't know much about him, but do know that he is being recognized as the new president by the U.S., Germany, Japan, Coasta Rica, and many other nations. This is a huge praise and a long awaited answer to see how things would turn out in Honduras. We give God all the glory as many in this nation and Honduras went to the Lord in prayer.

Getting ready!

I have been wondering why I am still here, and I now know why. Sometimes we get to see the reasoning of God's timing and sometimes we don't. I have been blessed to see why I am still here and working at the hospital up to this point. A couple of weeks ago, I was talking to a guy at work about Honduras, who I was never supposed to meet, as he was going to be the one to take my positon when I left, and began to realize that he is one of the reasons I am still here. There are many people that go in and out of our lives, some are in our lives for a long season and some for a short season. I began talking to him about Honduras and he asked me for more information, so I gave him one of my letters. He came to me a few days later and told me how my letter and my story had impacted his life and how God had used it to make him examine his own life. I am excited to see how God will continue to work in his life and bring him closer to Himself.

Within the last month, I have been able to share with the youth at my old church about what God has called me to-Honduras. I was able to share with the high school on a Wedensday night and had a wonderful response from them. I encouraged them to go on the mission trip that the church is taking this coming summer that will be overseas. By the end of the night, they had more people signed up than they had spots for. I also got to talk to the middle school during the sunday school hour and encourage them toward missions. I actually got an email from one of the middle schoolers last night that told me she wants updates on what I am doing down in Honduras.

Now, for the exciting news, I talked to the mission board yesterday and they have told me I can leave the first of the year. I will be looking for a plane ticket and making preparations to leave right after a friend's wedding January 9th. I will be sending out another letter soon to make people aware of when I am leaving.

• Please pray for the rest of my support to come in before I leave in January.
• Please pray also for one of the missionaries from the hospital that is back here in the states right now receiving treatment for cancer who longs to be back in the place that she calls home, Honduras.

Please pray for Honduras! I don't know if you have been following the news, but the ousted president of Honduras came back into the country on Monday and is camping out at the Brazilian embassy. There has been a curfew in the country for the last two days where no one is really allowed out of their homes and out on the streets. There have been many buisnesses shutdown as well as the airports and the borders. No one really knows when the curfew will be completely lifted. Today it was lifted for about 6 hours and people went to town to buy food. The tiendas and supermarkets are going to be out of food soon as the deliveries cannot be made if the curfew is not lifted soon. I just read tonight that already the curfew has cost the Honduran economy around $50million.

Please also pray for our country. Our president and government are backing the ousted president Zelaya who is a corrupt president. He wanted to change their constitution so he could stay in office for another term. He was ousted for wanting to go against and change their constitution. Now the U.S. , the UN and all of central america are backing Zelaya and saying they will not recognize any other president. The U.S. has already pulled visas from all the honduran congress and political leaders as well as millions of dollars in aid we send them yearly. The U.S. is wanting this small little country to change their democratic constitution to bring back a corrupt president and are putting all kinds of pressure on the Honduran government to do so. If they do not do what the U.S. says, they will loose lots of funding from us. They are fighting for their democracy! Please pray as they fight.

I am still in the process of raising support, and hope to leave by the end of October. Please continue to pray for my support and for God's timing in all of this. Please pray for God's direction with Honduras.

I am getting ready!!! My house is rented and my car just sold this past weekend!

I went to training in Kentucky the last weekend of August and was very encouraged by the people of the mission board there. I was very encouraged to come back and finish raising my support to be there by the last week of September to first week of October. I have about $13,000 more to raise before they will let me leave, so please pray that will all come in...soon!

Today, I have a meeting with the COO of the hospital to see what they can do for me as a hospital. Please pray for that time and that he would catch the vision.
